My grandfather, Reginald Mulkins, signed-up to fight in the First World War overseas as an ammunition runner (mule skinner) in 1917 when he was 17 years old. I have scanned his diaries and correspondence relating to the dates of key Canadian battles, e.g. Vimy Ridge.

Vimy Ridge: I think this is the big night; damn the war...
Beth, just reading your grandfathers diary entries I see he was with the 23rd howitzer battery ...my grandfather and his brother also were as well (James and William Hazlett) Have you seen the book "From Otterpool to the Rhine" on this battalion? Jason Hazlett, Red Deer, AB
I am so sorry that I did not see your comment until now. That is amazing - they must have know each other. Yes, we have the book! I looked up your grandfather and his brother and the book shows that James Hazlett was injured on the 5th of December, 1917. Do you also have their correspondence and journals from the war? Beth Mulkins, Windsor, ON
why thy letter may be interesting to the eye it is quite difficult to the eye to thy understand in my native language if thy mandem could give your man a breakas and sort at brtoher out then i could bless u one time for the one time
Really? Grandpa Dyke’s/Reginald’s diary was given to me by my father. I lent the diary to you. You refuse to return the diary to me. I want to honour my grandfather, that I was blessed to meet and know in my childhood. I planned to donate the diary to the Ottawa’s War Musem. You refuse to return the diary tat was given to me.
Do the right thing and return the diary to it’s owner. Me. I want to donate this diary to the Ottawa War Musem. Dad wanted grandpàs wishes to honoured. You took advantage of me.
